Up until AJWRB came on the scene in 1997/1998, the organization saw the martyrdom of children as just another proof of Jehovah's blessing and the great faith of its members. They have been clubbed over the head enough times in the past 18 years in the press and medical journals that they no longer see it that way. More clubbing to come. -

New here
by MarkofCane inhello and thanks to everyone for participating on this forum it has really been of much value, for those of you that post here know that your words are not lost you never know who is reading your expressions, lives are being changed and nonsense challenged.
i’m not much of a writer so excuse my untrained writing style and grammar but i want to share my story to help anyone who is visiting here to see that we are real people, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters who have come here for answers, there is no agenda, just searching for truth.
i hope my story will help others as so many here have helped me..

Welcome and thank you for sharing your story. Know that there is life after the Watchtower, and that it can be good. Most of us have been where you are. We get it. -

Dynamics of your congregation and its "elders" are the key. Under the right circumstances six months is possible if it wasn't too scandalous. Other factors might be:
Does your ex continue to attend this hall? If so, expect it might take longer.
Are you generally liked or disliked by the congregation, and especially the elders on your judicial committee?
Some elders are suspicious about DF ones who immediately begin attending all of the meetings. Almost like they should be too ashamed to show their faces. Sometimes it seems to work better if you take a little break, and then start coming back. Particularly if your situation was well known and generated a lot of talk/scandal.

Where does the money come from to operate the Hospital Information network?
by OrphanCrow inthe recent buzz that has hit the online communities concerning the watchtower society and their evil offspring - the jw org - revolves around their apparent financial difficulties.
many factors have been discussed - the real estate flips (and flops), the changes in meetings and field service, the need for donations to cover expenses, the push for donations.

The WTS has already published what amounts to counsel for JW medical professionals to violate HIPPA. Good discussion of this is Dr. Muramoto's articles in the Journal of Medical Ethics?
ORPHAN CROW: You are welcome to submit an article to AJWRB on your topic. We would be happy to have a look.

<There are far more JWs that work in health care who are influencing JW patients than most people realize.>
That in and of itself is a concern that requires no speculation or further revelation. It would be a worthy topic for discussion in one of the medical ethics journals imo.

They are interesting questions and the answers to those questions could raise important questions regarding medical ethics were it to turn out that funding came from outside the WTS. That said, however, to the best of my knowledge they are only questions and speculation. I would not be surprised if the answers to those questions proved to be disturbing as is so often the case with the WTS. Very little surprises me anymore. We are dealing with a group of men who are convinced that the end justifies the means. -

How this Jehovah’s Witness feels about the Australian Royal Commission
by Simple Minds ini know the arc is old news i know i am preaching to the converted but i had to express how i feel because most of my jw friends and family dont want to hear .
so this is how i feel.
i have faithfully served as a jehovahs witness for over 25 years..

My belief is that the organization could really care less about how you feel. They are God's channel and you are a sheep. Follow and do what you are told. Remain silent - if something is wrong, eventually Jehovah will fix it. Open your mouth and cause divisions and they will show you the door. That has been my experience and observation. There is plenty of distressing stuff going on in the WTS. The child abuse issue is just a part of the problem.
For what its worth, I totally related to what you are feeling. When I finally realized that they were responsible for thousands of needless deaths over the blood issue it was simply demoralizing for me.

Hard for me to lump all ex JWs together. It is a spectrum with as many good folks and crazy folks as you find in the WTS. -

Do JW's still go door-to-door?
by Dark Knight inwith the rise of the new literature cart method of preaching, i'm curious as to how the traditional jw preaching work is organized.
the other reason i ask this is that i hardly see jw's door-knocking anymore.are they still going door-to-door and tracking how regularly their territory is covered?
are they still using territory maps and keeping track of do-not-calls, ethnic/deaf houses etc?i'm also curious as to how the literature cart ministry is organized.

I suspect the work has slowed down quite a bit. I don't think I've had them at my door or in my neighborhood for at least three years. It is a blessing from Jehovah! -

If YOU had to make the decision, would you respect a JW relatives wish to refuse a blood transfusion?
by nicolaou ina few years after i quit the meetings my mum needed her medical directive signed and witnessed and she asked if i'd do it.
i was surprised to say the least!.
i think she was just angling to include me and maybe find some lever to get me involved again.

Its a good topic for discussion. Situations are going to vary, and I wouldn't presume to tell others what to do. For myself, I would try not to be put in that situation if possible. Unfortunately, I find myself in that situation with my elderly JW father. I've had several discussions with him about this and he is pretty confused by all of the changes. He understands that not all JWs agree that this is a scriptural requirement. He knows there are problems with the doctrine, and actually told my adult son to have a transfusion that was needed. I am not quite sure how this would go down if it comes up. One factor is that he is already in his late eighties, so I am not going to press. None of us are going to live forever (some of us just haven't figured that out yet).
